This beautiful pleated dress by Du Barry Model Mayfair, London and all indications are that it dates to the around the 30s.
Du Barry changed its spelling to Dubarry in the late 30s early 40s so going by the label on the dress this is one of the earliest Du Barry designs. The stitching is by machine and there is a lot of little hand finished stitching on the garment.
I love the little loops at the shoulder with metal press studs which open to allow you to attach your under garment straps to the dress therefore enabling your bra straps hold the dress in position.
The zip at the back is metal and manufactured by "Lightening".
This is a dress that has been looked after and loved there are no issues that I can find at all and its quite amazing to still have the original belt!
******* My measurements are approximate
Shoulder to shoulder 17"
Armpit to armpit 44"
